Do Catechins help block the
swine flu virus?
Tokushima Bunri University has done some research. October
22 4:25 Yomiuri Shimbun (Yahoo News) Professor
Takashi Kuzuhara of the the pharmaceutical department of Tokushima Bunri University
has shown catechins in green tea inhibit reproduction in the swine flu virus by
directly affecting the core of the virus. The anti-viral
effect of green tea has been known for some time, however this is the first time
the mechanism has been made clear.
Influenza A viruses such as the ones that cause the swine flu and Russian flu
use an enzyme called RNA polymerase to proliferate, which destroys the RNA in
the cells of humans and pigs to create new viruses.
Professor Kuzuhara, extracted this enzyme from the influenza A virus, then mixed
it with each of the five different catechins found in green tea, of which two
stopped all activity of the enzyme. Analyzing a 3-D computer gererated model of
these two types of catechins and the enzymes from the viruses showed the catechin
molecules fit right into the complex dimple shapes on the surface of the enzyme
molocules. The "knife" that destroys RNA is contained inside the dimple
shape, and the catechin acts as a lid rendering it useless. |

| Benifuuki was originally developed
for use in black teas, however it was found to contain large amounts of methylated
catechin, which was believed to alleviate symptoms of hay fever. Years of clinical
research have proven it's effectiveness.? |

*How
to drink Place tea bag in 180cc (one cup) of
water that has been boiled, shake tea bag for one minute and enjoy.
You may notice some separation of the tea after time, this is merely the insoluble
parts of the tea, and is completely safe to drink. |
